After the reasonably succesfull repair to the LHS corner of the spare wheel well I am moving on to repairing the rear edge of it. This area rusts because of moisture trapped between it and the rear valance, which is spot welded along its edge. I removed this all neatly some time ago with just the spot weld pips to grind off but about 2/3rds of it needs replaced anyway so all the carefull separation was perhaps not necessary....
'new' vertical piece at this area plug welded to flange on boot floor where it was originally spot welded. top joint seam welded where old steel cut out. repair steel cut from sheet which had surface rust and had to be chemically cleaned hence pickled appearance
repair went quite well viewed from here. lots of panels meeting calls for lots of effort when only repairing a small area
next area to be tackled is rear edge of wheel well. rear valance is spot welded on here so has to be repaired before new valance can be welded on
lacy bits cut out awaiting new metal
another view of hole which needs new steel before valance can go on
