what a difference a day makes (well 3 months in truth)

Well. All those pictures from yesterday's post were the rotten parts of the LHS inner sill srtucture along with the edge of the floorpan and the front & rear jacking-points/box-sections. Pretty gruesome and very time consuming to remove.....
The good news is that these areas have now been repaired to pave the way for the new inner sill........

this is the rear 'box section' which costs about £50. although well made all the dimensions are slightly different to the orginal so lots of fettling needed before turning welder up full and melting it into the body. you can't take it off again so has to be spot on as suspension arm attaches to it. NB the new panel does not include the large round boss. this has to be cut from the original corroded panel and welded to the new one. not easy to do. I spent about 2 weeks measuring and re-measuring before welding it on. turned out fine though.

front 'box section' costs about £35 and I only used about half of it because my car not too badly corroded here. No need to cut out sound orignal panels just to use full replacment part

If you are fussy, like me, this area is hard to get right right as there are 5 or 6 panels meeting here. This is at the very back of the floorpan where it meets the vertical face of the rear seat area

This is a homemade repair to the floorpan edge. Looks simple but was very time consuming to do neatly. When you try to fold metal at right angles it curves lenthways. Most annoying. Would have been easier to buy new floorpan and just use outside inch or two of it. rest of floor is still as good as new

same repair pictured at front jacking point
